Marit Berg (American, b. 1966) was born and raised in San Diego, California. She received a BA in Painting and Printmaking from San Diego State University and MFA from Washington State University. Both a painter and printmaker, Berg is known for her dramatically composed linocuts and carefully detailed etchings and aquatints. Her work often deals with themes of predation, vulnerability, isolation, and hierarchy within the animal and human worlds. Berg is interested in the delicate balance of life in the natural world and the development of traits necessary for survival. Berg is a tenured professor at Tacoma Community College. Her work is held in the public collections of the University of Washington and City of Seattle.
